Antioxidants are substances that are known to protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals. Eating foods rich in antioxidants may help minimize the cell damage that leads to Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, and certain other diseases. They are also known to help lower your risk of infections.
Plant foods are a rich source of antioxidants. You can find this powerfully healing substance in foods like – beans, berries, broccoli, citrus fruits, kale, spinach, tomatoes etc. BUT – “What if I want a quick fix for a busy day?” [bctt tweet=”Eating foods rich in antioxidants may help minimize the cell damage that leads to Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, and certain other diseases. So here’s a quick and easy way to give yourselves an antioxidant boost. Either look for a pre-packed dry antioxidant mix at your local grocery store, or make one yourself by choosing certain dry nuts and berries you like. Feel free to throw in some dark chocolate as well. Yes – They offer antioxidant benefits too!!!
The mix I am using has cashews, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, figs, mulberries, goji berries, and golden berries. You can just take a fistful of this mix and eat it as is. Tastes great! But I like to have mine with MILK. And believe me – That changes the taste completely! [bctt tweet=”Feel free to throw in some dark chocolate as well. Put the mix in a small bowl and pour milk over it – just until they are all soaked in milk. Cover it and let it soak for 2-3 hours. That’s all! The berries will have absorbed some of the milk and will be soft and plump. And the milk will have absorbed some of the flavor from your mix. Best part – “no sweetener” is needed, as the berries will have naturally sweetened the milk.
Hope you’ll enjoy this quick fix antioxidant energy booster…
[Be careful not to go overboard with the mix, as they do pack a punch with calories 😉 I generally take a small fistful a day, and that does it for me.]
